Our solutions

Three connected ways
to build resilience.

ROOTS aims to reduce climate-related displacement risks by addressing essential services, disaster preparedness and household livelihoods together.

💧

01. Water security

Repair selected wells, introduce rainwater harvesting and storage systems, and encourage efficient irrigation such as drip systems. Train residents to maintain the infrastructure.

02. Flood resilience

Use available mapping, local surveys and resident knowledge to identify flood-prone areas. Improve drainage where appropriate and establish early-warning and evacuation plans.

Months 2–18
🌱

03. Livelihood recovery

Train residents in climate-resilient farming, provide seeds and tools where feasible, and create paid maintenance roles and alternative livelihood opportunities.

Design principles

Community ownership comes first.

The proposal emphasises resident consultation, locally maintainable infrastructure, transparent priorities and collaboration with existing initiatives. Final activities would depend on local assessments, partners and available resources.
